Cagliari family opens Roastery named ‘San Paulo’ in Bordeaux

Cagliari family moves back to Italy and opens Roastery ‘San Paulo’ in Modena

Fascist takeover of ‘San Paulo’ Roastery by the church during the war

1895 – Nakre Yellappa Shetty (Great paternal grandfather to current generation) is born into an agricultural family, working farms in South Canara

1920 – Yellappa Shetty begins working in Chikmagalur to compliment working seasons in South Canara


1925 – Charmakki Narayan Shetty (Great maternal grandfather) born into an agricultural family working areca nut plantations in South Canara


1921 – Yellappa Shetty begins supply and management of labour to British owned plantations in Chikmagalur


1928 – Yellappa Shetty is bestowed with the title of ‘Munser’ or ‘Chief’, a testament to the reputation he maintained amongst British plantation owners and the 150 workers under his wing


1940 – Yellappa Shetty goes on to buy Kerekhan estate which is still owned by the Shetty family


1945 -50 – Narayan Shetty makes a foray into construction – a necessary diversion before getting back into agriculture


1965 – Narayan Shetty buys Woddaegudda estate


1985 – Narayan Shetty makes the shift back to agriculture, taking a keen interest in coffee plantations


1988 – Narayan Shetty buys Ashirwad estate


1994 – Narayan Shetty buys Ashtalakshmi estate


2012 – Great grandchildren (Abhijit and Advith Shetty) forge partnership with Italian coffee roasters to form Seven Beans Coffee Company

1964 – Dante invents and pioneers use of laser diffraction for particle size analysis of coffee


1965 – Dante joins the family business at ‘San Paulo’


1970 – Company name changed from ‘San Paulo’ to ‘I.T.C. Srl’


2000 – Company ‘I.T.C. Srl.’ Branded as ‘Caffe’ L’Antico’


2012 – Dante forges a partnership with Indian coffee planters to form Seven Beans Coffee Company
